Merck

Miami based Merck Records has long been one of my favourite labels, delivering a massive selection of electronic hybrids from an equally diverse range of artists. Anyone following Warp through the nineties and the turn of the century should appreciate the consistent quality of output here over the years. Sadly Merck’s legacy ended when it closed for business in 2006 as label boss Gabe Koch moved on to explore new ideas, the first of which being online regional graff database miamigraffiti.com.

Merck also spawned sister label Narita, collecting more techno oriented material. Physical releases from each are becoming a little difficult to find now but well worth the effort and both catalogue’s remain available in their entirety as digital downloads.

You can read our in depth interview with Gabe about the labels and their history in multilink magazine #06.
