Sometimes life gets in the way…

Added January 9th, 2008

Sorry the posts have been a little sporadic of late. I want to get something good up here everyday but work and the rest of my life have been conspiring against me recently. Don’t worry though, we’ll be back on track in no time so long as I can get my head down and focus.

In the meantime, have a bit of ‘Purple & Brown’. This just about sums up my mental capacity at the moment, enjoy…

Studio Rarekwai (SRK): RackGaki

Added December 14th, 2007

We ran an article about these guys and their film ‘Scratching The Surface: Japan’ back in Feb 2005 as part of the first pdf issue we put together. Having shaken off their old ‘Kwai Lo’ guise, the two main guys behind the project moved to new HQ in London where they’ve been busy producing some tasteful work under the new alias of ‘Studio Rarekwai‘. May 2007 saw the release of their book ‘RackGaki’; an eye popping showcase of Japanese graffiti that comes bundled with a stunning DVD produced in collaboration with Cinema Iloobia (another name that may be familiar to long time multilink readers). Check the trailer below…

Iloobia has passed me an article on filming this that I’ve put aside for the new issue early next year but you might want to think about picking up the DVD/book now as it’s been around for a while. Available from Laurence King Publishing in all good book stores…

Metamatics - Personal Jesus

Added December 13th, 2007

2007 rework of the Depeche Mode original. This track has seen it’s fair share of cover versions including efforts from Johnny Cash and Marilyn Manson. This version appears on ‘My Favourite Kind Of Irrelevance 1997-2007‘ on Hydrogen Dukebox, a kind of ‘best of’ collection that draws together choice cuts by Lee Norris under his various aliases. Highly recommended.

Devoid Of Yesterday: Things Fall Apart

Devoid of yesterday is an arts based collective specializing in the creation of personal short film projects and not for profit commissions. The group is made up of motion directors Rob Chiu and Chris Hewitt alongside audio designer Ben Boysen.

Have a look at their work together in Things Fall Apart which reminded me it’s been a while since I watched Katsuhiro Otomo’s Akira.
